Why Koh Samui

  • Own airport makes it an easy entry/exit point for the Gulf Islands
  • Ferry hub for Koh-Phangan and Koh-Tao
  • Beautiful beaches, especially Chaweng and Lamai

The largest and most developed of the Gulf Islands, Koh Samui is more upmarket than its neighbours Koh-Phangan and Koh-Tao but still has a backpacker scene, especially around Chaweng and Maenam beaches. It is the transit hub for the Gulf Islands, with its own airport and multiple ferry connections. Backpackers often pass through en route to the Full Moon Party or Koh Tao diving.
