It is a mix of beach resort town and backpacker party hub, with boozy island-hopping boat trips, budget diving, and a lively nightlife strip. While it has become quite developed and touristy, it remains a key stop on the north-south backpacker trail and a convenient transit point between Da-Nang-Hoi-An and Da-Lat or Ho-Chi-Minh-City.
